Lorde’s music unavailable in Israel after pro-Palestinian outburst on stage

New Zealand singer, who canceled a Tel Aviv concert in 2017, stages a pro-Palestinian display on stage in New York; her music has since disappeared from Apple Music Israel

Hours after singer-songwriter Lorde shouted “Free Palestine” during a concert as the stage lit up in the colors of the Palestinian flag, her albums were no longer available on Apple Music or Spotify in Israel.
During her New York show, the New Zealand artist exclaimed “Free f—king Palestine” on stage. While Lorde herself has made no official announcement, her music disappeared from the two major streaming platforms in Israel soon after.

Lorde has previously voiced support for Palestinians. In 2017, she canceled a planned concert in Tel Aviv under pressure from supporters of the cultural boycott against Israel. However, she has not signed the recent No Music For Genocide initiative, which urges artists to block access to their catalogs in Israel.
Universal Music’s Israeli representation, which handles Lorde’s releases in the country, did not immediately comment.
