Lady Gaga has become a mother for the first time. The Grammy-winning singer, 40, and her fiancé, Michael Polansky, have welcomed their first child together, a source told PEOPLE.
Representatives for Gaga did not respond to the magazine’s request for comment. Page Six first reported the news.

For years, Gaga has spoken openly about wanting children and eventually making motherhood part of her life.
In a December 2019 YouTube video discussing where she hoped to be over the following decade, Gaga said she wanted children alongside continuing her career.
“I want to do more movies, I want to have babies,” she said at the time.
A few months later, in a March 2020 interview with InStyle, Gaga returned to the subject and described her excitement about becoming a mother.
“I will say I am very excited to have kids,” she said. “I look forward to being a mom. Isn’t it incredible what we can do? We can hold a human inside and grow it. Then it comes out, and it’s our job to keep it alive.”
Gaga, whose fans have long called her Mother Monster, also joked that she had already developed something of a maternal role within the community around her.
“It’s so funny — everyone works out of my house every day. When they come in, I always say, ‘Welcome to the Womb!’ ” she said.
More recently, Gaga made clear that motherhood remained one of her biggest personal ambitions.
Appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert in October 2025, she was asked about what she wanted from the next stage of her life.
“I would like to do many things,” she said of her future plans. “All of these things are open. But what I really want is to be a mom. That’s my next starring role, I hope.”
Gaga and Polansky were first romantically linked in 2020 after they were photographed kissing at a New Year’s Eve party in Las Vegas.
They made their relationship public soon afterward, appearing together around the 2020 Super Bowl in Miami and later sharing their relationship on Instagram.
When the COVID-19 pandemic began, the couple quarantined together, spending an extended period at Gaga’s home.
A source close to the singer told PEOPLE in April 2020 that they had “been hanging out at her house” and “ordering delivery food” while isolating.
Over the following years, the pair largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight while continuing to support one another professionally and through their philanthropic work.
Polansky serves as executive director of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy, while Gaga has long worked on mental health advocacy through her Born This Way Foundation.
“Michael is very sweet and supportive,” a source told PEOPLE in 2021. “He is hardworking as well, so he appreciates her focus. They are a great team.”
Their engagement became public in July 2024 during the Paris Olympics, when Gaga introduced Polansky as “my fiancé” while speaking with then-French Prime Minister Gabriel Attal at a swimming event.
Two years later, Gaga has now entered the role she had repeatedly said she hoped would come next: motherhood.
