As America prepares for the midterm elections, President Donald Trump continues to focus on the burning issues of the day: immigration, tariffs, foreign relations and butts. At a campaign rally in Michigan on Sunday, the 80-year-old president treated the crowd to a particularly presidential moment when he decided to compliment rapper Nicki Minaj's backside. And he didn't stop at words: He also asked her to stand up so everyone could admire the national treasure for themselves.
It all began with Trump's attempt to defend himself following an earlier controversy in which he revealed that he had closely examined the backside of Jon Husted, the Republican senator from Ohio. In his defense, the president explained that Husted had been an outstanding football player and that he had merely been assessing his athletic physique. "I looked at his ass and I've never done that with a man before, it's true," he told the crowd, before quickly adding: "Off the record, women, yes, men, no, okay?"
But instead of returning to the election, Trump remembered another backside that had left a lasting impression. "By the way, I looked at one hell of a beautiful ass before. Nicki Minaj!" he declared. "That's hard to miss. Stand up! That's hard to miss." Minaj, who was sitting in the audience, obliged, standing up and waving to the cheering crowd. "I hope Nicki wasn't insulted, but we love Nicki. She's been with us for a long time," the president added.
And if you thought the subject had been exhausted, Trump later returned to Husted's backside, describing it as "a big piece of muscle" before going into detail about the senator's hands, feet and neck. He even offered to compliment the backside of Mike Rogers, the Republican candidate for Senate in Michigan, if doing so would help him win the election.
As a reminder, Minaj has become one of Trump's most enthusiastic supporters over the past year. She traveled to Michigan with the president aboard Air Force One and later took the stage to deliver a speech in his support. "I love him so much," she declared, promising to continue supporting him "forever and ever." The rapper also made it clear that if Trump ran for president again, she would support him again, despite the U.S. Constitution limiting presidents to two elected terms. A detail that apparently wasn't enough to spoil the romance, or spare the rest of us the nausea.
