Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Portugal have agreed to host Israeli athletes and delegations currently in Europe who are unable to return home due to the ongoing security situation.
The move follows an official request by the Israeli Olympic Committee to its European counterparts, aimed at enabling athletes to maintain regular training routines ahead of the Olympic Games and other international competitions.

The countries that approved the request will provide access to existing training centers based on athletes’ needs and geographic location. According to the Olympic Committee, the arrangement was coordinated with relevant sports federations and includes cooperation with local clubs across Europe.
“The strong ties with European countries helped establish a stable framework that will allow our athletes to continue training—even under these difficult and unforeseen conditions,” the committee said in a statement.

The committee added that it is closely monitoring the status of all delegations abroad and is working with all relevant authorities to minimize the professional impact. “The safety of our athletes is our top priority,” the statement read.
The committee also expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and Sport and Minister Miki Zohar for their assistance, as well as to the Wingate Institute and various sports federations working to maintain training routines for Israeli national teams both at home and abroad.
