Confession first: yes, “Grey’s Anatomy” may have become one of the most exhausting TV shows, but we are still hooked. We do not miss an episode, we love to hate Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), we cry at nearly every character death, and we cannot get enough of Caterina Scorsone, also known as Dr. Amelia Shepherd.
Amelia’s character has gone through countless upheavals, including illness, miscarriage, divorce and a relationship with a woman. Scorsone’s real life has also seen its share of drama. She divorced her husband, lost her home in a fire, and is now in a relationship with a woman, the same one from the series.
Scorsone and Emmett Rogers Fightmaster appear to have carried their on-screen romance into real life. The two were recently photographed by paparazzi walking hand in hand through the streets of L.A.
For those not following the show, Fightmaster, who goes by E.R., portrayed Dr. Kai Bartley in seasons 18 and 19. The series is currently in its 22nd season.
Scorsone has three children from her previous marriage to Rob Giles: Eliza, 13; Pippa, 9; and Lucky, 6. In October 2018, she shared that Pippa had been diagnosed with Down syndrome.
“October is Down syndrome awareness month. Here’s a little info,” wrote the actress on Instagram. “1 in 700 babies is born with Down syndrome. Language is important. Parents don’t have a 1 in 700 ‘risk’ of having a baby with Down syndrome.
“Parents have a 1 in 700 chance of having a baby with Down syndrome,” she continued. “Just like they have a 50 percent chance of having a girl a 50 percent chance of having a boy. Language changes how people think. Words are important."
