Cristiano Ronaldo may have proposed with a $5 million ring, but for Hollywood’s most extravagant stars—those who love diamonds that could reflect light to the moon—price is rarely a concern. From Jennifer Lopez to Kim Kardashian, here are some of the most lavish engagement rings ever worn by celebrities.
In Hollywood, an engagement ring isn’t delivered with wine and a takeaway bag—it’s a gemstone the size of a ping-pong ball, often requiring its own security detail. These rare stones, formed deep underground over millions of years, are cut and polished into dazzling symbols of love worth millions.
The latest to join this elite circle is Georgina Rodriguez, who received her ring from partner Cristiano Ronaldo. The couple announced their engagement on Instagram, showing off a massive diamond valued by experts at $5 million. But Rodriguez is hardly the first to flash an extravagant rock—others have been in the game longer and with more carats on hand.
Jennifer Lopez – 8.5-carat green diamond, $7 million
When Ben Affleck proposed to Jennifer Lopez with a rare 8.5-carat natural green diamond, the internet stopped and collectively Googled: “Are green diamonds real?” The color, unusual and highly sought after, matched Lopez’s style perfectly and tied back to her iconic green Versace dress from the 2000 Grammys.
The ring, flanked by two smaller white diamonds, is valued at $5–7 million. In 2022, during their earlier engagement, Affleck had given her a 6.1-carat pink diamond worth $2.5 million, sparking a pink diamond trend in the engagement world. Over the years, Lopez has received multiple multimillion-dollar rings from her partners.
Beyoncé – 24-carat diamond, $7.5 million
Jay-Z’s 2007 proposal to Beyoncé came with a 24-carat emerald-cut diamond designed by Lorraine Schwartz. Purchased for $5 million at the time, it is now worth $7.5 million. The oversized gem is rarely seen in public—and for good reason.
Anna Kournikova – tennis ball-sized sparkle
Tennis star Anna Kournikova has been with singer Enrique Iglesias since 2001. Over the years, he has given her two engagement rings: an 11-carat pink pear-shaped diamond worth $2.5 million and a yellow diamond ring valued at $5.4 million. Today, the latter is estimated at $7.7 million.
Kim Kardashian – from proposal to Paris heist
In 2013, Kanye West proposed to Kim Kardashian in a baseball stadium with a 20-carat emerald-cut diamond surrounded by smaller stones, valued at $4 million. It followed an earlier engagement ring from West—a 15-carat stone worth $5 million.
In 2016, Kardashian was robbed at gunpoint in Paris, and the thieves stole both rings and other jewelry worth tens of millions. She later replaced the ring with an even larger custom diamond valued at $8–10 million.
Mariah Carey – love ends with a second-hand sale
Australian billionaire James Packer proposed to Mariah Carey with a 35-carat diamond worth $10–12 million. They split in 2016 and Carey later sold the ring for $2.1 million.
Elizabeth Taylor – the original celebrity diamond
When Richard Burton proposed in 1968, he presented Taylor with a 33-carat diamond from Harry Winston—so large it was considered a third presence in their on-and-off marriage.
Burton paid $305,000 for it, equivalent to millions today. After Taylor’s death in 2011, the ring sold at auction for $8.8 million and is now valued at around $12 million.

Grace Kelly – royalty sets the bar
Prince Rainier III of Monaco first proposed with a ring made from diamonds and rubies from the principality’s crown jewels. He later ordered a 10.48-carat emerald-cut diamond from Cartier, flanked by baguette diamonds, costing $4 million in 1956.
Today, it is worth $45 million. After Kelly’s death in 1982, the ring stayed with Monaco’s royal family and is now displayed at Cartier’s Fifth Avenue boutique in New York. Her wedding gown remains one of the most copied in history, inspiring brides worldwide—including UK royal Kate Middleton.
