Temperatures across Israel rose Thursday, especially in the mountains and inland regions, reaching slightly above the seasonal average as the country heads into a warmer-than-usual weekend.
The Israel Meteorological Service said skies would be partly cloudy to mostly clear, with strong northerly winds expected along the coast during the afternoon. The Mediterranean Sea will be calm to moderately rough, with wave heights between 40 and 120 centimeters (1.3 to 3.9 feet). Early Friday morning, light fog may form in the northwestern Negev and the southern coastal plain.

Temperatures are forecast to rise further, bringing unseasonably hot and dry sharav conditions — a heatwave driven by desert winds — across much of the country. In the afternoon, strong northerly winds are expected again along the coastal plain.
A slight drop in temperatures is expected Saturday along the coast, but most regions will remain hotter than usual, with sharav-level heat continuing. Northerly winds are expected to strengthen again in the afternoon. Sunday will stay unseasonably hot across most areas.
