Weather forecast: weekend rain ahead, 37°C heat to follow

Local rain is expected this weekend in northern Israel and along the coastal plain; temperatures will remain unchanged through Monday, before rising sharply, with Tel Aviv forecast to reach 37°C on Wednesday

After more than a month, it is finally possible to get outdoors — but don’t forget an umbrella. On Friday, temperatures will rise slightly, but it will still be cooler than usual for the season across most of the country. In the north, localized rain is expected, with a chance of isolated thunderstorms. Skies will be partly cloudy to clear during the day and overnight. In the early morning hours, drizzle to light local rain is possible in northern Israel and along the coastal plain.
Saturday will be partly cloudy, with no significant change in temperatures. Localized rain, mostly light, is expected in the north and along the coastal plain.

On Sunday, temperatures will remain largely unchanged, with partly cloudy to clear skies. Light, localized rain is still possible in northern Israel. On Monday, temperatures will rise, skies will be clear and conditions will return to seasonal norms.
The real shift will come afterward. While maximum temperatures in Tel Aviv are expected to reach 20 to 21 degrees Celsius today and in the coming days, a significant warm-up is forecast for Tuesday, with temperatures climbing to 28 degrees by midday. On Wednesday, they are expected to soar to 37 degrees, making it the hottest day since the start of the year.
