A slight drop in temperatures is expected Sunday, though weather will remain hotter than normal nationwide. Additional cooling is forecast Monday, especially along the coast and in the lowlands, but much of the country will still see above-average heat. Local showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected overnight into Tuesday, raising the risk of flash floods in eastern and southern desert streambeds.
By Tuesday, temperatures are expected to fall significantly, returning to seasonal averages along with rising humidity. Local showers and isolated thunderstorms may persist through the morning, with continued flood risk in the east and south before rain tapers off later in the day.
