A further modest decline is expected Tuesday, though conditions will remain warmer than usual for the season. Long-range forecasts indicate that the second half of July will also be hotter than average.

Temperatures are expected to rise again Wednesday. Humid conditions will develop along the coastal plain, while heat stress will intensify across the rest of the country. No significant change is forecast for Thursday.
