Temperatures are set to drop Sunday to below seasonal averages, with hazy conditions gradually clearing and improving visibility, according to the Israel Meteorological Service. Rain is expected intermittently in northern Israel, accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, with a chance of light, local showers in central areas.
Overnight, localized rain with thunderstorms is expected to continue in the north. Forecasters said the haze that dominated recent days is moving eastward, with conditions improving throughout the day. Rain will begin in the morning in the north and may spread to the center later on, though significant rainfall is not expected.
On Monday, most of the country will see a break in rainfall, though light showers may persist in the north. Temperatures are expected to rise slightly, especially in southern and central regions.
Rain is forecast to return more broadly on Tuesday, with local showers in the north and center accompanied by isolated thunderstorms. There is also a chance of rain in the Negev, along with a risk of flash flooding in the Judean Desert and Dead Sea areas. Winds are expected to strengthen, particularly in the south, while temperatures will dip slightly and remain below average, especially in mountainous and inland regions.
By Wednesday, local showers are expected to continue through midday from northern Israel to the northern Negev, with ongoing risk of flooding in desert streams. Rain is expected to taper off gradually in the afternoon, while temperatures will remain below seasonal norms.
Dr. Amir Givati, director of the Israel Meteorological Service, said that “long-range models forecast a shift in trend after Passover, with above-average temperature anomalies in the second half of April, possibly significantly above average.”
