Rain returns this weekend, flood alerts nationwide and snow forecast on Mount Hermon

Temperatures will be slightly above seasonal norms on Thursday before dropping on Friday as light rain begins along the coast and in the north, rainfall will intensify over the weekend with thunderstorms, flood risks and snow expected on Mount Hermon

The weather on Thursday will be partly cloudy to clear. Temperatures will be slightly higher than usual for the season, especially in the mountains and inland areas. Strong easterly winds will blow in the northern mountains and the Samaria region during the morning.
Toward early Friday morning, drizzle may develop along the coastal plain, accompanied by a slight drop in temperatures. In northern Israel and along the coast, intermittent drizzle to light local rain is expected. During the evening and overnight hours, rainfall will gradually spread to central Israel and intensify.

On Saturday, intermittent rain accompanied by thunderstorms is expected in the north and center of the country. Local rainfall is also possible in the northern Negev. Brisk westerly winds will blow, and temperatures will drop slightly further, mainly in the mountains and inland areas. During the evening and overnight, rainfall is expected to intensify, with a risk of flash floods in streams in the Judean Desert and the Dead Sea area, as well as flooding along the coastal plain.
On Sunday, intermittent rain accompanied by thunderstorms will continue from northern Israel to the northern Negev, along with strong westerly winds. There will still be a risk of flash floods in eastern streams and flooding along the coastal plain. Around midday, rainfall will gradually weaken and taper off. Snow is expected on Mount Hermon.
Dr. Amir Givati of the Israel Meteorological Service explained on Wednesday that rainfall on Sunday will intensify, with the first half of the day marked by heavy rain accompanied by flash floods and flooding along the central and southern coast, in Samaria and in the Jerusalem mountains. Flash floods are also expected in the Judean Desert and Dead Sea streams, extending as far as the northern Negev, he said.
