Forecast: Hot, hazy weather grips Israel ahead of cold, wet weekend

Strong winds and haze expected, with rain and possible thunderstorms Friday, followed by cooler weather over the weekend

Hot and unusually dry conditions will persist across Israel on Thursday, with hazy skies and a chance of local rain.
Strong easterly winds are expected in the morning in the northern and central mountains.

Similar conditions are forecast for Friday, with continued heat, strong winds and increased haze. Local rain is expected in many areas, with a chance of thunderstorms. Flooding is possible in streams in the Judean Desert, the Dead Sea region, the Negev and the Arava.
A significant drop in temperatures is expected on Saturday, along with brisk winds across most of the country. Local rain is forecast in the north, while hazy conditions are expected to persist, mainly in the south.
On Sunday, temperatures are expected to fall further and return to seasonal norms, with a chance of local rain continuing in the north.
Forecast temperatures for Thursday and overnight include: Jerusalem 20°–28° (68°–82°), Tel Aviv 20°–32° (68°–90°), Haifa 23°–32° (73°–90°), Safed 19°–26° (66°–79°), Katzrin 21°–31° (70°–88°), Tiberias 21°–33° (70°–91°), Nazareth 21°–31° (70°–88°), Afula 18°–34° (64°–93°), Beit Shean 23°–36° (73°–97°), Lod 18°–33° (64°–91°), Ashdod 19°–32° (66°–90°), Ein Gedi 27°–36° (81°–97°), Beersheba 22°–33° (72°–91°), Mitzpe Ramon 20°–30° (68°–86°), and Eilat 27°–34° (81°–93°).
