An unusually prolonged autumn heat wave intensified Wednesday across Israel, smashing historical temperature records for November and showing no signs of fading soon.
In the capital, the Israel Meteorological Service recorded an overnight low of 23 °C (73.4 °F) and a high of 32.3 °C (90.1 °F) — the highest November maximum since 1942.
Elsewhere, the coastal Ayalon area in the Western Galilee reached 34.5 °C (94.1 °F), topping the previous November record of 34.0 °C. In Karnei Shomron, it hit 35.1 °C (95.2 °F) versus the previous 33.3 °C. In the Negev’s Ein Gev and Kibbutz Gat stations, highs of 37.8 °C (100.0 °F) and 38.1 °C (100.6 °F) were measured, respectively, surpassing earlier records of 36.1 °C and 36.0 °C. Historical records also fell at the Netiv HaLamed-Heh station in the Judean Foothills, where 36.9 °C (98.4 °F) exceeded the former record of 34.8 °C. Northern coastal areas also soared above 35 °C (95 °F).
Partial relief may arrive Thursday with some cloud cover and slightly lower—but still above‑normal—temperatures, particularly in inland and mountain areas. A further slight drop is expected Friday, followed by a partial rebound Saturday with a hot, dry pattern returning into Sunday.
