Israel is set for a cold and unsettled stretch of winter weather, with temperatures on Tuesday running below seasonal averages across much of the country.
Skies are expected to be partly cloudy to clear, but conditions will feel especially cold in the mountainous areas. Overnight, strengthening easterly winds are forecast in the northern and central highlands, raising concerns about frost in the mountains and valleys.
On Wednesday, skies will remain cloudy, with particularly strong easterly winds in the north and in elevated areas. Conditions will turn milder on Thursday, with temperatures rising to near seasonal norms. Strong easterly winds are expected in northern cities, and localized rain may develop in the north from the afternoon hours.
Cloudy conditions are forecast to persist into Friday, with scattered local rain possible in northern and central Israel.
Forecast temperatures for Tuesday and overnight include Jerusalem at 5–10°C (41–50°F), Tel Aviv 8–14°C (46–57°F), Haifa 9–14°C (48–57°F), Safed 3–8°C (37–46°F), Katzrin 3–12°C (37–54°F), Tiberias 6–14°C (43–57°F), Nazareth 6–12°C (43–54°F), Afula 5–14°C (41–57°F), Beit Shean 6–16°C (43–61°F), Lod 8–14°C (46–57°F), Ashdod 8–15°C (46–59°F), Ein Gedi 10–17°C (50–63°F), Be'er Sheva 6–14°C (43–57°F), Mitzpe Ramon 5–11°C (41–52°F) and Eilat 11–19°C (52–66°F).
