Israel is expected to see its first major rain system of the season this weekend. Today (Wednesday) will be partly cloudy to cloudy, with a slight drop in temperatures that will still remain somewhat above normal for this time of year, especially in the hills and inland regions. Overnight, light rain may fall in the east.
On Thursday, temperatures will stay about the same. From the afternoon, isolated showers are possible, mainly in the southern and eastern parts of the country, with a small risk of flash floods in the desert valleys of the Arava region. In the evening and overnight, rain will gradually become heavier, especially along the Mediterranean coast, possibly accompanied by isolated thunderstorms.
By early Friday, temperatures will drop noticeably, and local flooding may occur along coastal cities such as Tel Aviv and Ashdod. During the day, the weather will be partly cloudy to cloudy with occasional showers and thunderstorms in northern and central Israel, and strong winds are expected. Some rain may also reach the northern Negev Desert, while flash floods are possible in desert canyons near the Dead Sea.
On Saturday, scattered rain will continue in northern and central Israel, with a small chance of morning flooding along the coast.
