Israel braces for weekend storms after record-warm November

After an unusually hot, dry November marked by two heat waves, Israel faces a sharp weather shift with thunderstorms, cooler temperatures and flash flood risks in the south and east as conditions turn unsettled heading into the weekend

After an unusually warm and mostly dry November, Israel on Wednesday will see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with high-altitude cloud cover, along with gusty easterly winds over the northern mountains. Temperatures were expected to rise slightly later in the day, remaining a bit above seasonal norms.
Thursday will be clear to partly cloudy with another slight warming trend and temperatures continuing above average. Strong easterly winds are again expected across the northern highlands, where haze is also possible.

By Friday, temperatures will climb further, bringing hot and unseasonable conditions, approaching heat wave levels. Light, isolated rain may begin by late afternoon.
On Saturday, conditions are expected to shift: skies will turn partly cloudy to cloudy with a drop in temperatures. Showers accompanied by thunderstorms are forecast to begin during the day, spreading gradually from the south to most regions. Flash-flood warnings are in effect for desert streams in the south and east through the weekend.

A dry, unusually warm November

Meteorologists said November 2025 was significantly warmer than average, particularly during nighttime hours. In terms of daily maximum temperatures, it was the third-warmest November on record after 1962 and 2010.
The month featured two prolonged heatwaves that broke seasonal temperature records, interrupted only by three short rain events—one lasting about three days in mid-November and two others of roughly 24 hours each late in the month.
Total rainfall across the country was near average, but highly uneven and marked by unusually intense downpours because much of the precipitation fell over short periods.
