Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel's national emergency medical service, unveiled 96 new ambulances on Thursday at a ceremony marking 96 years since the organization's founding.
The ceremony, held at MDA's headquarters in Ramla, was attended by Director-General Eli Bin, Michel Ktorza, president of the European Friends of MDA, and MDA employees and volunteers.
The ambulances were funded through donations from supporters in the United States, Canada, France, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Belgium and Australia, coordinated by MDA's international Friends associations.
The new vehicles will be distributed across Israel, expanding MDA's existing fleet of approximately 2,000 ambulances. According to the organization, the additional vehicles are intended to improve emergency medical coverage, shorten response times and strengthen its ability to respond to both routine emergencies and large-scale incidents.
"In its 96th year of operation, Magen David Adom is inaugurating 96 new ambulances, adding to the fleet of approximately 2,000 ambulances already operating throughout Israel to save lives," Bin said.
"While 96 is a mature age, Israel's national emergency medical service is young and strong, equipped with cutting-edge, modern lifesaving capabilities," he added.
Bin also thanked the international donors and Friends associations for their continued support, saying their contributions help MDA maintain and expand its emergency response capabilities across the country.
