Antisemitic incidents at British universities have risen sharply since before Hamas’ Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel, with the latest academic year recording nearly 80% more cases than in 2022/23, according to a report released Wednesday by the Community Security Trust.
The CST, a charity that monitors antisemitism and provides security advice to Britain’s Jewish community, recorded 178 university-related antisemitic incidents across the 2024/25 and 2025/26 academic years. There were 95 incidents in 2025/26 alone, a 14% increase from the previous academic year.

By comparison, the CST recorded 53 university-related antisemitic incidents in 2022/23, the last full academic year before the Oct. 7 attack and the war in Gaza that followed.
Most of the incidents involved abusive behavior, including verbal abuse, antisemitic comments and graffiti directed at Jewish students, university staff or Jewish organizations. The report also recorded two incidents classified as extreme violence in 2024/25 and six assaults across the two-year period.
The CST said 16 antisemitic incidents during those two academic years were perpetrated by university staff.
“No student should have to choose between expressing their identity and feeling safe on campus, yet for too many Jewish students that remains a reality,” British Education Minister Lucy Powell said.
