German prosecutors have charged a 15-year-old boy from Bavaria with allegedly planning a terrorist attack against a synagogue after investigators found that he had stockpiled a large quantity of pyrotechnic materials.
The indictment was filed with the juvenile division of the Augsburg District Court, the German newspaper Augsburger Allgemeine reported.

The teenager faces several charges, including preparing a serious act of violence endangering state security, intentionally possessing explosive materials without authorization, causing an explosion and inflicting dangerous bodily harm.
According to prosecutors, the boy accumulated the pyrotechnic materials with the intention of carrying out an attack, specifically targeting a synagogue. He is being held in custody pending the conclusion of the legal proceedings.
The indictment also alleges that the teenager caused an explosion in late October 2025. Augsburger Allgemeine reported that the boy, who lives in the Augsburg district, severed two of his fingers with a homemade spherical explosive device he had constructed. One of his friends was lightly injured in the blast. The investigation has been underway since last fall.
The teenager is presumed innocent until proven guilty. His attorney has rejected the allegation that he intended to attack a synagogue. German prosecutors previously said the boy had expressed support for the Islamic State terrorist organization (ISIS).
