Jewish student assaulted at Florida State University over IDF shirt

Student seen cursing, shoving and shouting 'F*** Israel, Free Palestine'; suspended and barred from campus; 'Our commitment to swiftly and effectively responding to incidents of hate is unwavering,' school says

A Jewish student at Florida State University was physically and verbally assaulted this week at the campus gym after wearing a shirt with the emblem of the IDF, according to video footage and university officials.
A video circulating on social media shows a female student approaching the male student and shouting, “F*** Israel, free Palestine,” before flipping her middle finger, hurling insults and pushing him.

Florida Rep. Randy Fine, a Republican and outspoken supporter of Israel, said the university had taken immediate disciplinary action. “It only took one call. She has been suspended until an expulsion hearing and has been trespassed from campus,” Fine wrote on X. “In Florida, we don't mess around with Muslim terrorism.”
Florida State University issued a statement confirming the incident and outlining ongoing investigations. “Florida State University is actively addressing an altercation between two students that has been widely shared on social media. The FSU Police Department has interviewed the students shown in the video,” the statement read. “The matter is being reviewed for potential criminal charges and for charges under the FSU Student Code of Conduct.”

The university added that the female student prominently featured in the video has been barred from campus during the investigation.
“Our commitment to swiftly and effectively responding to incidents of hate is unwavering,” the university said. “We appreciate the prompt report of this incident, which allowed us to address this instance of antisemitism without delay. Florida State University strongly condemns antisemitism in all forms and follows Florida law, which protects Jewish students and employees from discrimination motivated by antisemitism, harassment, intimidation, and violence.”
