Dolgopyat's gold medal comes after disappointment at the recent European Championships in Germany, where he finished without a medal after a slip and fall in the floor exercise final that left him only in seventh place (12.633 points).
Since his return from a serious ankle injury and surgery in England last October, Dolgopyat has already recorded two more international victories — in Stuttgart and at the World Cup in Osijek.
