Tesla unveils updated Model Y Performance — not yet in Israel

Tesla introduces an upgraded Model Y Performance with more power, improved acceleration, adaptive suspension, and enhanced design, promising dynamic driving without compromising range, though it’s currently for Europe only

Nir Ben Zaken|Updated:
Tesla has unveiled an updated Performance version of its best-selling Model Y, initially launching in Europe, with no immediate plans for Israel. Local representatives declined to comment.
The new powertrain, already seen in the Model 3 Performance, features dual electric motors producing 627 hp — an increase of 93 hp over the outgoing model.

The 0–100 km/h sprint takes 3.5 seconds, 0.3 seconds faster than before, though 0.1 seconds slower than rival Hyundai Ioniq 5N. Top speed remains 250 km/h, matching the previous Model Y but 10 km/h below the Korean competitor.

The suspension system, similar to the Model 3 Performance, has been stiffened and lowered by 1.6 cm, with adaptive dampers aimed at enhancing both comfort and handling.
Exterior updates include more aggressive bumpers, a carbon-fiber rear spoiler, and 21-inch Pirelli P-Zero Elect tires. Inside, the front seats offer improved support, carbon finishes, and a larger central touchscreen (16" vs 15.4") with upgraded graphics.
Battery capacity remains at 78.1 kWh, like the Model Y Long Range, but efficiency improvements allow nearly the same driving range (580 km, only 6 km less). Fast charging supports 250 kW, adding 243 km in 15 minutes and charging from 10% to 80% in 27 minutes.
Tesla’s new Model Y Performance promises improved performance, enhanced driving dynamics, and stronger software integration while minimizing losses from the upgraded power output. Whether it will help Tesla navigate its current marketing challenges remains uncertain, particularly amid increasing competition.
