Just before the start of the playoffs, The Ringer updated its ranking of the NBA’s top 100 players, with Deni Avdija holding steady at No. 23. The list was compiled before his standout performance against Phoenix — 41 points and 12 assists in a 114-110 win that sent Portland to the playoffs — meaning the showing did not affect his current ranking.
The Israeli forward still ranks ahead of several big names, including Jayson Tatum (24), Bam Adebayo (26), Pascal Siakam (27), Alperen Sengun (28), Karl-Anthony Towns (29), Paolo Banchero (31), LaMelo Ball (32), Lauri Markkanen (36), De’Aaron Fox (38), Cooper Flagg (42), Franz Wagner (43), Rudy Gobert (44), Julius Randle (46), Zion Williamson (50), Joel Embiid (54) and Trae Young (62).
For Avdija, this marks a continuation of his strong upward trajectory this season. His peak ranking came in late January, when he reached No. 17.
In its analysis, the site said Avdija has effectively turned into a one-man fast break, highlighting his impressive body control and ability to finish efficiently at full speed while maintaining balance, whether through a Eurostep or by using his strength to move defenders. It added that the forward has developed a strong understanding of how to maximize his size and physicality.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander remains at No. 1, ahead of Nikola Jokic, while the rest of the top nine is unchanged: Victor Wembanyama (3), Luka Doncic (4), Kawhi Leonard (5), Anthony Edwards (6), Giannis Antetokounmpo (7), Cade Cunningham (8) and Donovan Mitchell (9). Jaylen Brown rose to No. 10, overtaking Stephen Curry, while LeBron James jumped nine spots, from No. 30 to No. 21, now ranking ahead of Avdija.
