Users around the world, including in Israel, reported disruptions Friday evening on Facebook, Instagram and Facebook Messenger, all owned by Meta.
The outage began at around 5 p.m. local time, with users reporting they were unable to refresh their feeds or access the platforms altogether.
According to Downdetector, which monitors website and online service outages, more than 100,000 reports of problems with Facebook were submitted worldwide around that time.
Meta spokesperson Andy Stone wrote minutes later: “We’re aware that people are currently having trouble accessing our services. We’re working on it.”
Because of the outage affecting Meta’s own platforms, Stone posted the update on rival social network X, formerly Twitter.
