Widespread service disruptions reported as major platforms go down worldwide

Global users report widespread outages across Amazon Web Services, Instagram, Xbox and financial platforms; root cause still unclear as monitoring sites log cascading failures Wednesday evening

A sweeping wave of outages affected a range of major digital platforms Wednesday evening, with real-time data from monitoring site Downdetector showing disruptions across Amazon Web Services (AWS), Cloudflare, Instagram, Reddit, Facebook, Xbox Live and more.
The incidents appear to be happening in parallel, though the cause of the disruptions is not yet known. AWS, which supports a vast portion of internet infrastructure, was among the first reported services to experience issues. Additional reports quickly followed from users of gaming platforms like Xbox and Steam, major content services like YouTube and core communications and financial apps.

Reports are global in scope, with Downdetector logs showing sharp surges in user complaints beginning in the early evening. In many cases, users are experiencing login failures, connectivity problems and slow loading or service interruptions.
Neither Amazon nor other companies affected have issued formal statements as of this report. Some users noted that cloud infrastructure providers like Cloudflare are also showing signs of instability, raising concerns that the disruption may be rooted in a deeper systemic issue.
Downdetector aggregates user-submitted error reports to track outages in real time. While the nature of the outage is still unclear, the volume and diversity of affected services suggest a potentially significant internet infrastructure issue is unfolding.
