For most Americans, tax season is associated with stress, paperwork and uncertainty. April believes that experience should be fundamentally different. The fintech company, founded to modernize one of the most overlooked sectors in financial services, helps U.S. taxpayers plan, optimize and file their taxes through banks, brokers, wealth managers and other financial institutions. Rather than treating taxes as an annual event, April integrates tax intelligence directly into everyday financial decision-making.

Daniel, co-founder and chief technology and product officer of April, said the company was created after recognizing a major gap in the market. “The domain of taxes has been under-innovated for three decades,” he said. “It’s controlled by incumbents and suffers from a severe labor shortage as more and more accountants leave the profession.”
According to Daniel, three out of every five Americans overpay on their taxes, while millions spend countless hours and significant amounts of money simply to remain compliant. April was built to help close that gap through technology and automation.
What differentiates the platform, Daniel explained, is its combination of personalization, proactive planning and seamless integration. April tailors the tax experience to each user, helps optimize financial decisions throughout the year and operates within financial institutions where customers already manage their money.
The result is a simpler experience that can reduce the time required to file taxes from hours to just minutes. “We don’t only help you file your taxes,” Daniel said. “We’re there with you throughout the year to help optimize your financial situation.”
Founded nearly five years ago, April now employs about 80 people across Israel and the United States. The company says its global structure combines Israeli engineering talent with American fintech and tax expertise. Looking ahead, April envisions a future where taxes become largely autonomous, continuously working in the background to improve a person’s financial position.
“We imagine a future where taxes work for you and you don’t have to do anything to manage them,” Daniel said. “When you manage your taxes with April, we make the taxes work for you — not the other way around.”
