If the freezing cold of a Jerusalem night doesn't scare you why not take a sweater and join a tour in the footsteps of the capital's Hanukkah menorahs?
Israel's Nature and National Parks Protection Authority in partnership with the center for education and public affairs "Yehuda and Jerusalem" are conducting "enlightened" tours that seem to promise a fascinating evening:
"An evening full of light" will depart Tuesday evening from the Yamin Moshe power station; it will continue to Mishkanot Sha'ananim and end in the Jewish quarter in the Old City. The entire tour is on foot and is packed with "enlightening" tales.
The "Oil lamp" tour will take place on Tuesday and Thursday evening of this week in the mysterious underground caves of Beit Guvrin. A guided "oil lamp" tour will take visitors through the winding maze of caves dating back to the time of Bar Kochba to see the columbaria, a network of water cisterns, an olive press as well as a host of other interesting sites. The tour will stop at an observation point to watch the stars and for a warm drink of herbal tea.
