Wizz Air is expanding its operations in Israel, announcing the addition of 46 weekly flights from Tel Aviv. The low-cost carrier will restore five routes, including London Gatwick, Venice and Catania in Sicily, while increasing frequencies on 11 existing routes. Destinations receiving additional flights include Budapest, Milan, Rome, Athens and Warsaw.
The five routes returning to the schedule are Catania in Sicily, with four weekly flights; London Gatwick, with five; Venice, with three; and Cluj-Napoca and Iași, with two flights a week each.
A fare check conducted Monday found one-way tickets for 70 euros to London Gatwick on October 10, 60 euros to Venice on October 9 and 56 euros to Rome on October 17. The prices are basic fares and do not include a wheeled cabin bag or checked luggage.
At the same time, Wizz Air is increasing frequencies on a number of existing routes. The biggest jump will be on the Budapest route, which will rise from 14 to 21 weekly flights, while service to Milan will double from seven to 14 flights a week.
Rome will increase from 12 to 14 weekly flights, while Bucharest will rise from 11 to 14. Service to Bratislava, Naples and Athens will each increase from five to seven weekly flights, while Vilnius will double from two to four.
Catania, Sicily, joins Wizz Air’s expanding route map

The Sofia route will increase from six to seven weekly flights, Varna from two to three and Warsaw from four to five. Wizz Air said the additional flights are already available for booking on its website and app.
The expansion comes as international service at Ben Gurion Airport continues to recover. Delta Air Lines has resumed flights between New York and Tel Aviv, while United Airlines is expected to return on September 8 with two daily flights from Newark. Israir is scheduled to launch its new New York route on September 15.
More European carriers are also returning. Scandinavian airline SAS is set to resume direct flights between Tel Aviv and Copenhagen on October 26, with four weekly services.
