Delta Air Lines announced that it has begun offering free WiFi on its flights between Israel and New York, becoming the only airline operating in Israel to provide in-flight internet at no additional cost.
The American carrier operates two daily flights on the Tel Aviv–JFK route. To access the complimentary service, passengers must enroll in Delta’s SkyMiles loyalty program, which is free of charge.
According to the company, its Delta Sync WiFi system—powered by T-Mobile—was recently installed on Delta’s 1,000th aircraft, meaning that approximately 75% of Delta’s fleet is now equipped with high-speed wireless connectivity. The service allows for seamless internet access from gate to gate. Delta plans to complete fleet-wide installation of the system by the end of 2026.
Who else offers WiFi on the Tel Aviv-New York route?
El Al offers WiFi on flights to North America aboard its 787 and 777 aircraft, and on some 737s, but the service is not free. El Al provides tiered WiFi packages for purchase or in exchange for frequent flyer points:
Basic: WhatsApp and email access for $5.99, or 1,000 Matmid points / 750 FlyCard points.
Social: Includes access to short videos (up to 3 minutes) for $14.99, or 2,250 Matmid points / 2,000 FlyCard points.
Business: For business class passengers, includes full movie streaming and VPN access for $24.99, or 3,750 Matmid points / 3,250 FlyCard points.
United Airlines offers free internet packages to premium cabin passengers on its New York flights, while other passengers can purchase access depending on aircraft and destination.
Arkia, which also operates flights to the U.S., currently does not offer WiFi on transatlantic routes. Some of its European flights operating 321neo aircraft do provide paid WiFi options.
