United Airlines is expanding its service from Israel beyond New York. Beginning Nov. 1, the American carrier will launch direct flights from Tel Aviv to Chicago and Washington — destinations currently without nonstop service from Israel.
The airline said it will operate four weekly flights to Chicago and three to Washington. Ticket sales are expected to begin on Thursday.
United already runs two daily flights between Tel Aviv and Newark/New York and says it now offers more flights to Tel Aviv than any other U.S. airline. It will also be the only carrier providing direct connections from Chicago and Washington.
“These flights highlight United’s longstanding commitment to Tel Aviv,” said Patrick Quayle, senior vice president of global network planning and alliances at United Airlines.
Israel’s Transportation Minister Miri Regev and senior ministry officials recently met with United executives in the United States. The ministry said United leaders emphasized that trust and cooperation with Israel’s transport authorities had only strengthened during the war, and the airline is committed to adding more U.S. routes to Israel in the future.
