Israeli Ambassador to Washington Yechiel Leiter addressed the attack in the city, revealing that Elias Rodriguez, who killed couple Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim outside the Jewish Museum, planned the act after identifying them as embassy employees at an event they previously attended.
According to Leiter, the attacker circulated at an American Jewish Committee event, conversed with participants, and apparently inquired about the identity of embassy staff members, but began raising suspicions at some point and was asked to leave. Leiter added that Rodriguez's girlfriend was previously arrested after breaking into shouting and making threats at the Israeli consulate in Chicago.
