UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres responded to the American attack on nuclear facilities in Iran, saying: "I am deeply concerned about the use of force by the U.S. against Iran. This represents a dangerous escalation in a region already on the brink of explosion - and a direct threat to international peace and security. The risk of this confrontation spiraling rapidly out of control is increasing - with catastrophic consequences for civilians, the region and the world as a whole." Guterres added that "in this dangerous hour, it is critical to avoid a slope of chaos. There is no military solution. The only way forward is diplomacy. The only hope is peace."
