Democratic Party caucus votes to block offensive weapons transfers to Israel

The Progressive Caucus of the Democratic Party, one of the largest groups in the U.S. House of Representatives, voted for the first time in favor of an initiative to block transfers of offensive weapons to Israel. The bill, proposed by Illinois Congresswoman Delia Ramirez, seeks to impose an embargo on offensive weapons such as bunker-busting bombs, JDAMs, 155mm ammunition and tank shells until Israel "meets human rights standards." Defensive systems like Iron Dome would be exempted.
