New York police thwarted an assassination plot against Nerdeen Kiswani, a leading figure in anti-Israel protests in the city. In a police statement, it was reported that in a joint operation with the FBI, authorities raided several homes and made arrests in Hoboken, New Jersey.
Kiswani, 31, a co-founder of the anti-Israel organization Within Our Lifetime, has led numerous protests against Israel since the outbreak of the war in Gaza, during which she called to "globalize the intifada," and expressed support for Hamas and Hezbollah.
The suspect, Alexander Heffler, 26, is affiliated with the Jewish Defense League, designated as a terrorist organization in the United States.
New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani condemned the plot: "We will not tolerate violent extremism in our city."
