American-German citizen arrested in New York for attempted arson of U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv

Joseph Neumeyer, a 28-year-old American-German citizen who was deported from Israel, was arrested upon landing in New York on suspicion of attempting to burn down the U.S. Embassy in Tel Aviv. According to the complaint filed against him in Brooklyn federal court, on May 19, Neumeyer approached the embassy compound with a backpack containing three Molotov cocktails. He was transferred to FBI custody following his deportation from Israel and appeared for his initial court hearing, where a judge ordered his detention. If convicted, Neumeier faces between 5 to 20 years in prison.
