New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani reiterated his condemnation of a protest outside a synagogue in Queens, where pro-Hamas chants were heard, and for the first time publicly called it a terrorist organization.
"There is no place in our city for calls supporting a terrorist organization. We will continue to ensure the safety of New York residents entering and leaving places of worship, as well as the constitutional right to protest," he said. Mamdani has condemned Hamas in the past, saying they committed shocking war crimes and should disarm, but this is the first time he has explicitly referred to them in this way.
