Support for Israel among the American public has fallen to a low of 54% – the lowest rate since 2000. This is according to a new survey by the Gallup Institute, which annually examines the attitudes of the American public toward various countries around the world. The decline in support is mainly attributed to the growing criticism among Democrats and independents following the war in the Gaza Strip, and for the first time a majority of voters from one party hold a negative position towards Israel: 60% of Democrats expressed an unsympathetic opinion toward the country.
