The Democratic Party approved its official platform, which states that it will continue to support Israel while recognizing "the ongoing suffering inflicted on the Palestinians as a result of the war in Gaza." The platform expresses support for the efforts of U.S. President Joe Biden, "to build sustainable peace in the Middle East, and to establish a strong coalition to deal with Iran." In addition, it supports "a two-state solution that guarantees Israel as a Jewish and democratic state, with recognized borders, and upholds the right of the Palestinians to live in freedom and security in their own country." The platform was approved despite efforts by the left-progressive wing of the party to block it.
