New York resident sentenced to 6 years for antisemitic attack on Jewish barber

A U.S. court has sentenced Ahmed Al-Jabali, a 34-year-old New York resident, to six years in prison after being convicted of an antisemitic assault on a Jewish barber in Yonkers last summer. He admitted to attacking barber Slava Shoshkov with scissors while shouting antisemitic slurs and threatening to kill him. The victim sustained injuries to his hand and arm. During the court hearing, Al-Jabali expressed remorse, but Shoshkov told him: "Sorry can only be a word." The Westchester Jewish Council stated that "we hope the sentence sends a clear message."
