More than 32,000 Americans returned from Middle East since start of war

More than 32,000 American citizens have returned to the United States from the Middle East since the start of the war. The State Department reported it has completed 24 charter flights and provided direct assistance to an additional 19,000 citizens staying overseas. Assistant Secretary of State Dylan Johnson noted that more than half of the citizens who initially requested help to leave are declining the transportation options offered by the administration, with some preferring to remain in their countries. However, he added that the U.S. will continue to assist any American who requests to leave the region and efforts to expand charter flights and ground transportation continue.
