Authorities in New York arrested former Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Edward Harold King and Haredi real estate developer Yechiel Sam Shpritz on suspicion of defrauding investors of millions of dollars. According to the indictment, King, 72, and Shpritz, 37, a well-known and politically connected figure in Brooklyn's Haredi community, collaborated in a sophisticated real estate fraud scheme. The two exploited King's judicial status to lend false credibility to fictitious transactions and pocketed at least five million dollars. The pair lured investors to deposit six and a half million dollars into the judge's escrow account for participation in a property auction in New Jersey, but within days most of the funds were transferred to Shpritz's private account.
