Jonathan Gray, president and CEO of the investment firm Blackstone, and his wife, Mindy, are donating a record $125 million (approximately 450 million shekels) to the Faculty of Medicine at Tel Aviv University—the largest single gift in the university’s history. According to The New York Times, the donation ranks among the most significant ever made to an academic institution in Israel. The funding is expected to double the number of Arab students enrolled in the university’s medical school, partly through scholarships and subsidized housing.
