Elizabeth (Liz) Simons, daughter of the late Jewish billionaire Jim Simons, donated $250,000 to the campaign of Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic candidate for New York City mayor who has expressed strong anti-Israel positions. This is the largest single donation Mamdani has received so far. Simons, president of the Heising-Simons Foundation, is a key donor to the Democratic Party, having contributed more than $19 million since 2017. Mamdani's campaign is largely based on tens of thousands of small donations, but Simons' contribution now places him among those supported by wealthy donors, despite his positions against billionaires and corporations.
