Trump plans to bypass restrictions on drone sales to foreign countries

U.S. President Donald Trump plans to reinterpret a 1987 international agreement, which would allow the sale of advanced drones and UAVs to foreign countries, including Saudi Arabia, which has requested more than 100 such devices. The move bypasses existing restrictions, designed in part to prevent the proliferation of long-range missiles, and is expected to shift the balance of power in a market where Israel currently holds a central share. Israel, which is not a signatory to the agreement, has in recent years become one of the prominent exporters of heavy drones in the Middle East, taking advantage of the restrictions placed on the U.S.
