Mamdani posts Nakba Day message, sparks controversy: 'Endangers Jews everywhere'

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani posted a message on the official mayoral account on X marking Nakba Day, which included testimony from a city resident he presented as a 'Nakba survivor.' In the video, which has already been viewed more than two million times, the resident, Ina, recounts fleeing Jerusalem in her childhood 'because the Zionists came,' and Mamdani wrote alongside it that her story is one of 700,000. Jewish leaders in New York attacked Mamdani, accusing him of distorting history and ignoring Arab states' rejection of the partition plan. Moshe Safran, president of the Jewish Teachers Association, wrote in response to the post that 'you endanger Jews everywhere by failing to provide historical context.'
