The U.S. military announced that it eliminated a senior ISIS member in northern Syria two days ago. According to the Pentagon, he was a "senior member of the organization who planned attacks in Syria and Iraq and funded the terrorist organization's activities in the region." The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said that the man, whose name was not released, "posed a direct threat to American forces, the coalition and the new Syrian government." Incoming CENTCOM commander Brad Cooper stated that "the U.S. will continue to act decisively against ISIS together with its partners to ensure the organization's defeat."
