Macron declares: France recognizes Palestinian state

At the end of his speech at the opening of the French-Saudi conference at the UN, French President Emmanuel Macron declared that "France recognizes the state of Palestine." He said that "the time has come, because the worst could still happen - the sacrifice of more civilian lives, the displacement of Gaza residents to Egypt, the annexation of the West Bank, the death of hostages held by Hamas, or creating facts on the ground that could irreversibly change the situation there. This is the reason, this is exactly the reason why here, in this hall, we must pave the way for peace. We have reason to fear that the Abraham Accords and the Camp David Accords may be reconsidered by Israel, and that peace will become impossible in the Middle East for a long time."
