Malta recognizes Palestinian state: 'Committed to two-state solution for both peoples'

Malta's Prime Minister Robert Abela announced his recognition of a Palestinian state, "in a clear and unequivocal declaration." At the French-Saudi conference at the UN, he noted that "we are doing this as proof of our practical commitment to a real and peaceful two-state solution as the only solution for the future of both peoples. Malta also expresses unequivocally its support for Israel's right to exist alongside a democratic Palestinian state."
