AJC committee opposes ban on foreign entry to US: 'No connection to antisemitism'

The American Jewish Committee (AJC), one of the world's leading Jewish organizations, has come out against President Donald Trump's new immigration order banning entry of citizens from 12 countries. According to the committee, 'the order has no direct connection to the domestic antisemitic threat.' The order was issued following the attack in Colorado carried out by an immigrant from Egypt - a country not included in the list. The AJC warned that the broad restrictions could harm 'genuine refugees,' called for renewed refugee assistance programs and establishing a quota of 75,000 asylum seekers per year.
